A custody battle followed Anna’s tragic death in 2023, and in the end, the court granted custody of the teen to Mama June Shannon instead of Anna’s ex, Michael Cardwell. Kaitlyn said in the interview that she feels relieved about the result. She said that she now spends time with her extended family. Before their mother died, the sisters shared a home and grew up together.
Kaitlyn further revealed that while she still occasionally phones Kylee, it is now nearly impossible to visit her. She said she doesn’t always get to spend time with her sister because of Michael and his wife, London Smith. Sometimes they agree to visit, but suddenly change the date at the last minute.
