1000-Lb Sisters: Amanda Halterman Bids A Sad Farewell To A Beloved Family Member

1000-Lb Sisters star Amanda Halterman recently said goodbye to a beloved family member, and it’s just another example of the bad luck that has befallen the Slaton clan recently. The show is technically about the weight-loss journeys of 28-year-old Tammy Slaton and 37-year-old Amy Slaton, but their siblings are also on the show, including 33-year-old Amanda. The Slatons are a close-knit bunch, so they spend a lot of time together.

The Slaton siblings have all lost a considerable amount of weight since the show premiered in 2020, but things haven’t been all fun and games for the 1000-lb Sisters season 6 stars. The family has recently experienced some tough times that culminated in the recent tragic death of a beloved family member. Read on to learn more about the latest Slaton family struggles, including their recent loss.

The Slatons Have Struggled Lately

Katie Slaton’s Tragic Diagnosis

The Slatons are a close family, so news that Tammy’s cousin, Katie Slaton, had stage four cancer shook Tammy and the Slatons deeply. Tammy took to Instagram to promote a GoFundMe for Katie. “Y’all I’m so sorry to be asking a big favor like this but if anyone can help even if it’s a dollar would help my cousin out so much,” Tammy wrote. She went on to add that Katie was a part of 1000-Lb Sisters. “Anything and everything is greatly appreciated.

Tammy May Leave Kentucky

She’s Finished With The Bluegrass State

Throughout 1000-lb Sisters season 6, Tammy threatened to leave Kentucky. The show films in the Bluegrass State, where producers can cash in on lucrative tax incentives. If Tammy were to leave Kentucky, it could mean the end of the show. In theory, Tammy could live in a different state, but stay in Kentucky during production, but that wouldn’t be a sustainable solution. Tammy and her sister Amy are the stars of the show, and if Tammy leaves Kentucky, the show is likely over.

The Slatons are animal lovers who have always been surrounded by pets. Amanda recently posted a sad Instagram announcement about the death of her mother’s dog, Baby Girl. “My mom’s beloved Baby Girl passed away the other day,” wrote Amanda. “She has given My mom so much joy and companionship over the last 20 years. That’s not a typo. 20 years baby Girl has been with my momma.” The 1000-lb Sisters star went on to ask for prayers.
