Yell! We’re Finally Getting More Yellowstone

It’s about time! If you have been waiting to see the series finale of Yellowstone, the time has almost come for its migration to steaming on Peacock. Season 5, Part 2 will be headed to the network on Sunday, March 16, so anyone who missed the shocking end to John Dutton’s (Kevin Costner) storyline on the Paramount Network will finally have the chance to tie up loose ends.

The exciting news was announced by the Paramount Network on Friday, per our sister site, TVLine. Viewers can continue to watch prior seasons of Taylor Sheridan’s hit drama on Peacock, just in time for the final episodes. While Costner bowed out of the second part of the season after a rumored feud with the showrunner and creator, Sheridan has reported plans to continue with the Yellowstone universe.

In December 2024, Deadline reported that Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and Rip Wheeler’s (Cole Hauser) story was not done, and the actors were signed to a spinoff deal—even though Paramount Network has not officially confirmed the news yet.

Still, it’s an opportunity for Paramount Global to recenter a show, with Yellowstone in the title, back to its preferred streaming home base of Paramount + instead of Peacock, which had an exclusive deal for the original series, per our sister site.

The spinoff idea certainly isn’t new to the Yellowstone universe since there are already five other shows that originated from Sheridan’s creation. 1883 is the only show that is completed, it aired in 2021 and 2022. 1923, starring Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren, premiered in 2022 and will return for a second season this year.

The upcoming series, The Madison, starring Michelle Pfeiffer and Patrick J. Adams, will follow a wealthy family from New York City to Madison River Valley, Montana. The other two shows, 1944 and 6666, are in the early stages of preproduction and the cast has not been announced yet.

What happened Between Kevin Costner and Taylor Sheridan?

Still, there are plenty of Sheridan episodes to watch, especially those craving the Costner era. In May 2023, Entertainment Tonight revealed that the 70-year-old actor had left the show because of a trifecta of issues, including “scheduling disagreements, pay disputes and personal friction between different key players.”

Puck News founder Matthew Belloni explained to the entertainment outlet, “Kevin Costner is famously headstrong and he has been at odds with Taylor Sheridan, the creator of this show, for months now over the days that he’s gonna be shooting for the next part of the season.”

Costner went on to film the first two parts of his four-movie franchise, Horizon: An American Saga, instead of reporting to set with his Yellowstone castmates. He gambled big on his project, investing $38 million of his own fortune, only to have the first movie fizzle at the box office in June 2024 and the second film yanked from the summer theatrical release calendar. While the risk didn’t pay off for Costner, he shared his reaction about the Yellowstone series finale with the Daily Mail last December.

“I’m not thinking about [the Yellowstone finale],” he said. “I don’t think I’ve given it any thoughts, we’ll just let it go.”
