Mama June recently wrapped up its seventh season. Following this, fans have noticed things were different this season, right down to the finale. In fact, some fans are even starting to wonder what this could mean for the series’ future.
Mama June Recently Finished Up Season 7, Which Premiered Back In May
Viewers came to know the Shannon family through a variety of reality shows. This includes Toddlers & Tiaras and Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.
Back in 2017, fans saw the debut of the WEtv series, Mama June. The series recently premiered its seventh season back in May.
This season wrapped up with a finale, “Sister or Snitch?,” airing on July 25, 2025. However, some fans noticed something different about this finale when compared to previous seasons.
One fan shared, “The last episode ended with small updates about them. I don’t remember them doing that before, though I may be wrong. Just curious if anyone else got the ‘this is the end’ vibe like I did.”
In particular, fans noticed that the season was much shorter than previous seasons. As one fan explained, “When they ended it after what, 8 episodes, it felt like that was a wrap on the whole thing.” For context, the sixth season was aired in three parts, with 26 episodes in total. Lasting over a year, fans weren’t sure if the series was on break or if the season had wrapped up at times.
Some Fans Pointed Out That The Current Episode Count Might Be Standard
However, other fans weren’t so sure that the episode count was an issue. Other fans noted that similar shows on the network have similar episode counts per season.
Something else fans noticed when talking about the finale was Pumpkin’s behavior at a bridal shower dinner. Not all fans thought what happened was genuine, with one fan noting, “I think they reenacted it, or it was made up to look real.”
Taking to the comments, fans have also been sharing their thoughts on the finale and the series at large. While many felt that the show might soon be coming to an end, others thought that was just speculation. Some comments included:
- “I hope they cancel the show all together it’s so fake and then we can watch them spiral out on TikTok.”
- “The finale, like the entire season, was hard to swallow. Mama P should stay in her own lane and tend to her children.”
- “This season only being 8 episodes makes me think WeTV is pulling the plug soon.”
- “I wouldn’t be so sure, Love After Lockup on the same network usually has 8-10 episode seasons. I think cable tv in general is scaling back episode counts. the show may end soon but I don’t think this certainly means cancellation.”
- “Hope this is the last season. Horrible acting. Pumpkin and June are annoying. Where’s Alana?”
- “At this point I think the show is season to season and the producers want to leave the door open just in case they come back. Also, they film that part just in case it is the final episode.”
- “Personally, I think it’s the end. There’s nothing really to film. Alana is in school, Anna is gone, June is clean, Jessica is kinda boring & everyone is tired of Pumpkin. Plus too much of it is scripted & re-shot. Maybe a reunion show to update everyone after Alana graduates?”
