1000-Lb Sisters: Amy Slaton Is Tired Of Being Treated Like A Child
1000-Lb Sisters season 6 star Amy Slaton has grown up so much over the last few years, and she’s desperate to prove herself to her siblings. The 37-year-old social media influencer was a completely different person when the unscripted series premiered in 2020. Back then, she weighed over 400 pounds, and she wasn’t living her best life. She was a newlywed who desperately wanted to have children, but her weight was standing in the way.
Determined to be a mother, Amy had bariatric surgery, lost 125 pounds, and went on to have two healthy boys, Gage and Glenn Halterman. 1000-lb Sisters season 6 found Amy living an entirely different life. After four years of marriage, she divorced her ex-husband, Michael Halterman, in 2023, and is now a single mother. She’s been forced to grow up so much over the years, but her siblings still see her as their incompetent baby sister.
Amy’s All Grown Up
She Wants Her Siblings To Know It
As the youngest of the five Slaton siblings, Amy has always been treated like the baby of the family. Everyone just sort of assumes that Amy can’t do anything on her own, and Amy’s sick of it. Now that Amy’s running her own home, and raising her two sons, she wants some recognition for the fact that she’s come a long way. During 1000-lb Sisters season 6, Amy tearfully tells her sister, 38-year-old Tammy Slaton, that she wants everyone to stop treating her like they used to.

“Just Add Chocolate Chips”
Wanting to impress her siblings with her culinary skills, Amy decided to cook something special. She went to the grocery store during 1000-lb Sisters season 6 to purchase ingredients for her bespoke recipe. The store clerk who helped her was shocked by Amy’s list of ingredients: onion powder, ranch powder, garlic powder, vanilla, and creole seasoning, for starters. “It’s like regular Alfredo, just add chocolate chips,” she told the dubious clerk. Amy has lost 125 pounds since making her television debut, so this unhealthy meal is a splurge.
Did Amy Impress Her Family?
“This Dish Is Fire”
During 1000-lb Sisters season 6, episode 3, Tammy came over and tried Amy’s interesting new recipe while it was being cooked. Tammy was a little turned off by the tangy taste, but Amy worked to improve the dish. Later, Amy took the dish to her other sister, 43-year-old Amanda Halterman, who loved it, saying, “this dish is fire“. Amy was thrilled to have impressed her older sister with her cooking, and looks forward to continuing to prove herself as a strong and resilient woman.
