Duggar News followers were in disbelief when Joseph had to go behind bars because of charges like lewd and lascivious molestation of a victim less than 12 years old. He allegedly did this back in 2020 during a family trip in Florida. Hence, he was in Bay County Jail before Jim Bob decided to fly all the way to Florida and rescue him.
However, the case is still pending, and Joseph must appear in the Florida court on April 20, 2026, at 9 a.m. Until then, Joseph will have to follow some strict rules even in Arkansas. He wouldn’t have to wear any kind of monitoring device despite the fact that he lives in another state. Moreover, the court had made it clear that Joseph would have to appear for the hearing anyway.
Duggar News: Here’s What Happened In Joseph’s First Hearing At Florida Court
Duggar News followers recently witnessed Joseph’s first court hearing in Florida after the recording went viral. He stood right in front of the judge with his entire paper. Mr. Sauline appeared on his behalf and requested that the court grant him a reasonable bond. She emphasized the fact that Joseph didn’t have any kind of prior criminal history, which included not even having a speeding ticket.
Joseph’s attorney further requested that the court treat Joseph in a fair manner despite his status in the television industry. This is when the State Attorney’s Office submitted a request for a “monetary bond.” They further asked for a “no-contact order with the alleged victim.” The clip also showed them asking Joseph not to be around any minors.
The State Attorney’s Office further pointed out that Joseph’s bond should be high to ensure his appearance in court for the next hearing. This is when the judge asked whether Joseph had any kind of “child endangerment and false imprisonment charges” in Arkansas or not. Joseph’s lawyer revealed that such charges were still “pending” and that they haven’t been resolved.
After hearing all of this, Judge Tracey A. Smith set bond at $100,000. She explained that it was for the lewd and lascivious conduct charge. Moreover, there was $500,000 for the lewd and lascivious molestation charge, as it is a life felony. The noted judge accepted the request and ordered Joseph to have no contact with the alleged victim and no unsupervised contact with any minors under the age of 18.
