Fans Blindsided By Landman’s Big News
The Season 1 premiere brought in a staggering 35 million global viewers, making Landman the most-watched premiere and finale in Paramount+ history. It quickly became the platform’s #1 original series and top engagement driver across households, joining Tulsa King and Lioness in Sheridan’s hit-making streaming empire. Thornton’s performace as the hard-nosed, hard drinking oil exec grabbed him a nomination for Best Actor in a Drama Series at this year’s Golden Globes too.
When will Season 2 of Landman film?
Production has officially begun on Season 2 of Landman! It was confirmed on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, that the cast had begun shooting for the second season in Texas. Paramount+ confirmed the news by sharing a photo of Thornton (above) with a Season 2 script.
Before renewal, Thornton teased a potential filming schedule while promoting the series in August 2024.
“I understand that if we’re going to do that, Season 2, that it’s going to be sometime around February, March, somewhere in there,” the actor told Entertainment Weekly. “I mean, we’ll see. It just depends on how the chips may fall, you never know in this business. But if we do it, I think [we’re] going to try to do it around that.”

Demi Moore, who plays Cami Miller, hinted at a similar filming schedule. “I’ve already completed the first season and I’m excited for us to start the second which will be at the beginning of next year,” the actress said at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2024, per Deadline.
In a new post on Instagram, Ali Larter shares five new photos from the Landman season 2 set. The first image shows Larter sitting on a jib lift in a colorful dress, while the second shows Thornton donning a suit jacket in a bedroom filled with crew members. The fourth features Larter sitting alongside Michelle Randolph and Thornton, and the following shows Larter posing with Dale actor James Jordan and Cooper actor Jacob Lofland. Finally, at the end of the carousel is a shot of Larter and Randolph together in a car. Check out Larter’s post below:
“A little BTS of Season 2, baby,” Larter writes in her caption, “Love this cast.”
While Thornton’s Tommy is really the primary figure in the Landman cast, the larger ensemble is undoubtedly a major reason for the show’s success. Tommy’s storyline is interesting, but it’s often the supporting characters around him that add depth and flavor. Angela is one such figure, with Larter’s character, along with Randolph’s Ainsley, really grounding Tommy while also adding to the drama in his life.
