In the latest episode of Mama June: Family Crisis, everyone learned that Jessica ‘Chubbs’ Shannon had proposed to Shyann McCant. When June learned of this, she was not happy. Yet, viewers were unclear as to what she had against Shyann. Keep reading for more details.
Mama June Goes After Jessica’s Fiancée
Around Memorial Day 2022, Jessica ‘Chubbs’ Shannon revealed that she had been dating Shyann McCant. Fans were shocked, but they just wanted her to be happy. On Mama June: Family Crisis, Jessica hid her romance and claimed she and Shyann were just roommates. Eventually, she came clean to Pumpkin Efird and Alana Thompson, who were incredibly supportive. They took her and Shyann out and really tried to make her feel welcome. At the end of last season, Jessica even asked Pumpkin if they could use her now ex-husband’s sperm to make a baby. It looked like the romance was moving along, but then Jessica proposed.
She did so on a cruise, and it was allegedly her niece, Kaitlyn Shannon, who learned of this. Kaitlyn saw a social media post and quickly shared it with Pumpkin. When Pumpkin showed the photo of the proposal and ring to June, she rolled her eyes. She was not happy about this and claimed that she felt Shyann was controlling Jessica in the relationship. Moreover, she believed her daughter could do better, but she seems very happy. Immediately, while the episode aired on Friday, July 11th, fans flooded social media with questions.
They could not understand why Mama June had such hatred toward Shyann. Moreover, she has not spent a lot of time with her, that viewers know of. Therefore, it was completely unwarranted. Some noted that June saw Shyann as controlling Jessica, and she did not care for that. Yet, June has a way of controlling everyone, so it was very mixed. At the same time, Alana and Pumpkin did state that they felt they saw a lot less of Jessica since she has been with Shyann, and is the one calling the shots.
What Is The Deal?
After fans saw Mama June’s reaction to the engagement, they wanted to know what the big problem was. Had they missed something along the way? It was news to them that June had a problem with Shyann, yet she is fine with Dralin Carswell and Darrin Kitchens. Plus, to see how alienated the sisters feel from Jessica Shannon was also surprising. She has been there for Pumpkin when needed, so it was suspicious. Followers soon chimed in with their thoughts on Shyann and June:

- Honestly, who DOESN’T get on June’s bad side once they enter into this family?
- She doesn’t like anyone that’s good for her daughters. That’s why because Cheyenne definitely see through June’s BS. She doesn’t like Josh because he took care of her daughter. She likes pumpkin’s new man because he’s a hot mess.
Some did wonder if June actually does like Shyann McCant, but is using the hatred for a storyline. Hopefully, they can resolve their issues so Jessica and Shyann can have a very happy forever.
