Mama June Shannon’s daughter, Pumpkin Efird, was married to Josh Efird for six years and shared four children. They filed for divorce in August 2024, and it’s officially over with Pumpkin moving on with Josh’s cousin, Darrin Kitchens. Now, Pumpkin is dissing Josh on Father’s Day while praising her new man. Pumpkin Disses Josh On Father’s Day
Although Josh and Pumpkin Efird are now officially divorced, their relationship struggles are playing out on the current season of Mama June: Family Crisis. She just asked Josh for a divorce and admitted that things have been tough for a long time. In real-time, the couple has moved on, with Josh welcoming a new baby and Pumpkin dating his cousin, Darrin Kitchens. Pumpkin and Darrin have allegedly been together since April 2024, just months before the exes filed for divorce. Regardless of any issues between Pumpkin and Josh, they did create four beautiful children.
Sunday, June 15th, 2025, was Father’s Day, and one would think that Pumpkin would send some love to Josh. He has been seen as a hands-on father to their babies, Ella, Bentley, Sylus, and Stella. However, Pumpkin decided to completely disregard her baby daddy and solely honor her boyfriend, Darrin. She shared a slew of photos of him and wrote a sweet tribute to him:
- Happy Father’s Day to our Mr.fix it all!! From stepping in and helping raise 4 extra babies with no questions asked, to putting up all our outside projects, being our personal mechanic, to showing up every single time for me and for the kids, the hard work you continuously put into yourself & for providing for us, & most importantly for loving us. Forever grateful for you & all that you do for us!!
She also referred to him as a “dad/bonus dad,” but there was no mention of Josh anywhere. Mama June openly said that she did not think marrying Josh was a good idea, mainly because Pumpkin was so young. She has been cryptic regarding Darrin, but says he is good to the kids.
Fans React To Pumpkin’s Praise
Mama June fans saw Pumpkin Efird’s tribute to Darrin Kitchens while actively ignoring Josh Efird. Did they feel that this was inappropriate, or were they happy that she had found happiness and love? Some were not happy with her treatment of Josh and how she consistently made him out to be a bad guy. Others simply sent good wishes for the day:

I hate how pumpkin is trying to make him into their new dad like josh isn’t still VERY involved in their lives 🙄 and we’re not gonna forget abt Darren’s 3 other kids that he doesn’t see.
- Yeah, Josh literally helped raise her own sister more than she did. Like people give her more credit than she deserves tbh. He does more for all those kids.
- She gives praise to the cuzband but none to the man that’s been there for years. Wow she’s nuts
It does not seem that this went over very well, and it was not as if Pumpkin had to send extreme love to Josh. However, she could have quickly mentioned him, but that does not appear to have happened.
