Tammy Slaton Leaving Kentucky: Is She Done with ‘1000-Lb Sisters’?

1000-Lb Sisters season 6 star Tammy Slaton’s recent comments about leaving Kentucky have led to questions about her continued involvement with the show. The beloved unscripted series, which premiered in 2020, has always filmed in Kentucky, so if Tammy leaves the state, she probably leaves the show. The 38-year-old social media influencer’s recent comments have to be considered in the context of Tammy’s relationship with her family.

While the series chronicles the weight-loss journeys of Tammy and her sister, 37-year-old Amy Slaton, the rest of the family appears on the show too. The Slatons are a close-knit bunch, so they lean on each other, and are together all the time. With so many big personalities spending so much time together, there’s no shortage of drama on 1000-lb Sisters. Tammy recently had enough and blew her lid at her siblings, saying things she may eventually regret.

The Slatons have always been a dramatic bunch, and their conflict is as spicy as ever during 1000-lb Sisters season 6. During a recent episode, Tammy got into a big blow-out fight with her sister, 44-year-old Amanda Halterman. The fight spilled over into several of Tammy’s other relationships, and ended with Tammy saying that she wanted to leave Kentucky to get away from her family.

Though the Slatons grew up in Indiana, they’ve all lived in Kentucky for a long time. Tammy is known for losing her temper, but this was the first time she said she wanted to leave the state so she should avoid her relatives. If she leaves, it’s unlikely that she’ll continue to appear on 1000-lb Sisters anymore. Since Tammy is one of the show’s main characters, her exit would probably be the end of the beloved unscripted series.

Over the years, the 1000-lb Sisters star has leaned on her family. When Tammy weighed 725 pounds, she needed help with everyday needs like bathing and feeding herself. If she wanted to go anywhere, she needed someone to drive her and push her around in her wheelchair. After losing 500 pounds, Tammy has become more independent. Though she’s now able to care for her daily needs, she still needs her family, so she may end up staying in Kentucky.

1000-lb Sisters season 6 airs on Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on TLC.
