Hosts Push Back Against Savannah Chrisley In Tense Exchange
Barbara Walters created The View with the vision of offering different political ideologies and viewpoints. While the current panel has a few Republicans, none of the hosts are supporters of President Trump. In fact, they criticize him at every turn.
Guest host Savannah Chrisley is a staunch Trump supporter. She petitioned the President to pardon her parents, Todd and Julie Chrisley, after they were convicted of fraud a few years ago. They were released in 2025. Savannah Chrisley was a keynote speaker at the 2024 Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
The View panelists discussed Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s comments at the Munich Security Conference earlier this month. When asked about Taiwan, the House Representative paused and fumbled her response, prompting widespread criticism.
Joy Behar joked that people should look at President Trump’s speeches before criticizing AOC. Savannah Chrisley chimed in to defend the President. “Mispronouncing a word is totally different than not knowing your position on Taiwan. What’s important is how you recover from something. Trump, he’s done things, and then he’s continued on with his speech, and then continued on to meet with world leaders. So, the recovery is what matters, and AOC just didn’t have a recovery,” she said.
Whoopi Goldberg shared her opinion that, as President, Trump should be held to a higher standard than AOC and others in Congress. Savannah Chrisley responded by claiming that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is planning to run for President in 2028.
Sara Haines and Whoopi Goldberg visibly responded by shaking their heads. Joy Behar quipped, “You better tell that to Gavin Newsom!” Sunny Hostin pointed out that AOC has shut down speculation about running in 2028.
